9-11

I had to share this:  I got it from barbieandkenbrinkerhoff.blogspot.com

Have you ever thought, "Where was God on 9/11 when the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked?" Well, I know where my God was on the morning of September 11, 2001, and He was very busy!

He was discouraging people from taking those four flights. Together they could accommodate more than 1,000 passengers, yet there were only 266 aboard. He was on those four flights giving the terrified
passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the people who was called by a loved one on one of the hijacked planes mentioned that passengers were panicked, nor was there any screaming in the background. And on one of the flights, God gave strength to the passengers to overcome the hijackers.

God was also busy creating obstacles to prevent people who worked in the WTC from getting to work on time. The work day had begun, more than 50,000 people worked in the two towers, yet only 20,000 were at their desks. On that beautiful morning, God created scores of unexpected traffic delays, subway delays, and commuter train delays. A PATH train packed with commuters was stopped at a signal just short of the WTC and was able to return to Jersey City. And far more meetings were scheduled elsewhere than was usual.

God held up each of the two mighty towers for a half hour so that the people on the lower floors could get out. And when He finally let go, He caused the towers to fall inward rather than to topple over, which would have killed so many more people. The foundations of six surrounding buildings were demolished by the fall of the towers, but God held them up for many hours until all the occupants were safely evacuated.

And when the WTC and Pentagon buildings went down, my God picked up almost 3,500 of His children and carried them to their home for all eternity. He also sat down and cried that 19 of His children could have so much hate in their hearts, that they did not choose him, but another god that doesn't exist, and now they are lost forever.

He sent people trained in dealing with earthly disasters to save those that were injured. And he sent in thousands of others to help in any way they were needed. And He brought people together across the world in a way that moved thousands to tears and hundreds of thousands to prayer—and caused millions to turn to the one true living God.

He still isn't finished. Every day He comforts those who lost loved ones. He is encouraging others to reach out to those who don't know Him or believe in Him. He is giving the leaders of our great nation the strength and conviction to do the right thing, to follow His will, not a popular poll.

So if anyone ever asks, "Where was your God on 9/11?" you can say, "He was everywhere! And, in fact, he is everywhere today and every day." Without a doubt, this was the worst catastrophe most of us have ever seen. I can't imagine getting through such a difficult time without God at my side. Without God, life would be hopeless.

Good Night's Rest

This is usually the season when I get a permanent stuffy nose when I go to sleep.
I don't know why it's always this time, but I just can't breathe when I lay down.
So last night, I knew I wasn't going to sleep well unless I did something about my nose.
Usually I get those nose strips but I didn't have any.
I went to my doTERRA oils and found my Breathe.
It's a oil blend of
laurel leaf,
peppermint,
eucalyptus,
melaleuca,
lemon
and ravensara.

Breathe "cleanses and soothes the
airways and can easily be applied topically
to the chest, back or bottom of feet."

I let my neighbor borrow this oil a few weeks ago for her 11moth old son.
He had been sick with ear infections and
wasn't sleeping well.
I lent her my diffuser and she diffused the oil
in his room at night.
He slept so well and
was doing so much better.
I'm glad to have helped them.
They are wonderful friends and
I hate to see little kids suffering from sickness
longer than they need to.
Breathe has specific oils that
help you get better faster.

I slept well last night.
I could breathe last night.
Do you want to have restful sleep?

A Trip to Soda Springs and A Wedding

One of my favorite things about going to Idaho is being able to look at the beauty of the earth.

The clouds were perfect and beautiful

This is a view from Tyson's grandparent's house.

We had Wingers in Brigham City Friday night on the way.

Saturday we drove to Logan to see Tyson's cousin get married for time and all eternity.
It was such a great ceremony.

We had lunch at Texas Roadhouse before heading back to Idaho.
The ribs are AWESOME!

Back in little Soda, we played Dump with his mom and aunt and then played tennis.
By the time we finished it was dinner time.  And in Soda you can choose from Subway, A&W and Taco Time, or Arctic Circle.  We chose......

Arctic Circle

Then we went back to Tyson's grandma's and drove home Sunday morning.
It was a pretty fun trip.  The best part, though, is the kids stayed home.  We were like newlyweds all over again.  I slept the whole night both nights and no one sat in my lap while I tried to eat.  It was a very needed break.

Summer = Watermelon

We love watermelon in the summer.  Yesterday I didn't feel like cutting the rest, so we had a little picnic in the living room.

Cheese!!

Cheese!!

Cheese!!(with a mouth full of watermelon)

So fun!!  Sometimes you just have to make a bit of a mess.

doTERRA Essential Oils

Ever heard of doTERRA essential oils before?  If not, I am here to introduce them to you.  I first asked about doTERRA when I went to my neighbor's house and she had this cool humidifier with a blue light.  I asked what it was and she told me that it is called a Diffuser.  She puts these doTERRA essential oils in it with water and it diffuses the oil throughout the house.

Her house smelled great by the way and I found out what I was smelling was an oil blend called On Guard.  This specific oil blend is meant to help protect the body against the onset of the flu, cold, and viruses.  She usually puts in on when she has guests coming and it's beneficial to everyone who breathes it in.  The oils contained in this blend are:  Wild Orange, Clove Bud,  Cinnamon Bark,  Eucalyptus,  Rosemary.  This oil can also be used topically which means you can put it on your body.  Oils absorb quickly and that is why doTERRA is so beneficial to us all.

Check out my link at the top.  It's pretty amazing.  Here are some ways I've used them since I got my own oils:

Lavender for my mom's sunburn.  Right after I put it on, she said it didn't hurt as bad.  It was a bad burn.

Past Tense for my headache and I took a bath with some Serenity in it and it took care of it completely.

Lemon in my water.  Lemon is a topical and internal cleanser.  Also I just feel more refreshed.

Peppermint for extra fresh breath.

Serenity to help my kids go to sleep.

Peppermint, Lemon and Lavender in my shampoo to help with dry, itchy scalp.  Totally worked and my hair felt softer.

So you've probably noticed I use some more than others.  These oils have many different uses and they really do enhance physical and emotional health.  If you are interested and live in Utah, you can e-mail me and I can find you a class to learn more about it.  In fact, there is a class this Monday in Draper, UT.

Trust me.  It's pretty cool stuff.

A cute kid called me four eyes once. He wasn't cute after that.

So I am doing a sort of link up over to Jenna at Mom, the Intern.  Not sure how to really do a link up, but there it is.  She did a post about glasses and I decided I would post all my glasses I've worn.
I really don't have any confidence when I am in them, so I almost always have my contacts in.  I first got glasses in elementary school and wanted them to be my favorite colors.

Behold, the first pair.  Scary now, right?

The lense is missing cause I lost the screw.  Don't even ask me when that happened.
I did love these glasses though.

The teen years.  See why I didn't wear them in public?  I'm gonna have to do a glamour post to make myself feel pretty again.  These pictures are scary.

And finally the pair I wear now.  They fit my face better but are the wrong prescription.  I really want new ones.

So there you have it.  My glasses.  And the more I look at these, the more I love my contacts.

Happy Mother's Day

I can't express how grateful I am to be a mother.  My family is my everything and I am grateful Heavenly Father entrusted these princesses to me.  I will always do my best to treat them the way all His children should be treated.  I am grateful for my mother for what she taught me.  I hope people look at me and think I'm like my mom.  That is how special she is to me.  Love you Mommy!!

Now let me talk about that mother-in-law of mine.  I should actually say angel-in-law because that is what she is.  She is a wonderful mother.  I am so lucky to be able to see her every week.  We love you so much!

And a couple more mothers I am grateful to know.  Barb.  My girls wonderful grandma Barb.  Also a wonderful mother.  I can see the love she has for our family in her eyes.  We love you and I am grateful to know you and the girls are lucky to have another Grandma.
Speaking of Grandma's.  Grandma Darlene.  I have never know a greater grandma than you.  I wish we could visit more often.  The girls love you and are lucky to know you.

This is how we all need to think.
It's true.
Lets not spoil the present by spending all our time wishing for what we could have.
We need to live in the present and be thankful for everything we have now.
Now I'm not saying it's bad to dream.
Dream.
I love dreaming.
Just don't get carried away in your dreams and forget about all the other dreams that have already come true.

Have a happy Monday!!

My first real emergency visit...

Today was a very eventful day.
It started with the Zoo.
Fun, right?
Right.
The kids had a great time.  We went with my sister and her two kids and also my mom and a cute little girl she watches.  They love looking at all the animals.

The kids crashed on the way home.
It was an okay nap.

We got to my mom's house and I decided to stay there and make dinner.  I didn't want to go home yet and I knew my house was a mess.  So I made dinner for my dad and sister.
It was nice.
I was able to sit and start a book I've been dying to read.  The girls were having a great time.
Everything was going fine.

Then one of my twins tripped and started crying.  So I went over and my sister and I picked her up.
My sister saw her head first.
A big purple bump right on her forehead.
I started looking for my keys.  All these fears were running through my head.
I was scared.
I felt guilty for staying at the house too long.  If I had left right after dinner, this might not have happened.
I thought about the worst cases for head injuries.
I was shaking.

My dad gave her a priesthood blessing and I took her to the ER.  I was praying she would be okay but couldn't keep thoughts away.
Thoughts like going to the hospital with a daughter and leaving without one.
Things with the head scare me to death.

The doctor said she was showing no signs of a possible brain hemorage.
Very good.
She was acting like herself.
He watched how she walked and made sure she was using both her arms and hands.
We stayed for another hour and a half just to make sure.  If she got worse, it would most likely happen within the first two hours of the injury.

He came in at 8 and we were finally able to go.
I have to wake up in 4 hours and wake her up just to make sure she does.
I really think she is fine.

I'm glad I was so close to the hospital.
I'm glad my dad and sister could watch my other two girls.
I am grateful I have my Heavenly Father to comfort me and calm my spirits.

Kids say the cutest things

After more than 30 minutes of trying to calm my twins while they cried in bed (they did not want to go to sleep) I go to check on my cute 3 year old and she says,

"That was a long day of the girls crying!"

I totally agree!  :)

Day 9

The Invitation     Follow
Read the account of King Benjamin's address in Mosiah 2 and focus on verses 5-6.

The Journey
What council do you remember from the last General Conference?  Glance through the ensign or visit www.lds.org to help you recall some of your favorite talks.
Write down the counsel given and place it somewhere that you will see it often.  How can following that counsel strengthen your testimony of Jesus Christ?
What is one way you can apply inspired counsel to your life today?

Monday, February 20, 2012

Day 7, Day 8

Day 7
The Invitation     Pray
Learn to recognize the steady rhythm of the One who accompanies you along the race by reading Moroni 7:26.

The Journey
Ponder the five characteristics of prayer given in this verse.  How will remembering these make your prayers more meaningful?  Choose one step that you would like to focus on.
As you kneel to pray tonight, thank your Heavenly Father for His Son, Jesus Christ.  Share with Him the reasons why you are grateful for the Savior.  Let Him know what your knowledge of Christ means to you.

Day 8
The Invitation     Listen
Read the parable of the Good Shepherd in John 10:1-18.

The Journey
Think about how you have learned to recognize the voice of the Shepherd.  How has His "voice" come to you?  Make a list of the moments when you have heard that voice and have heeded the call.  Some ideas may include going to the temple, visiting someone in need, attending church, studying the scriptures, preparing a lesson, praying with a special purpose, or listening to the prophet.
Find one way to "hear" His voice today.

Read the account of the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42.

The Journey
Prepare to receive a simple learning moment, a "pearl in the field," as you go through your day.  Let your search be constant.  Try to discover, "in every hour," some heavenly blessing that will bring you closer to Christ.  A treasure-God's gold.

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Day 4

The Invitation     Search
Read the account of Jairus in Matthew 9:18-26.

The Journey
Think back on a time in your life when you had to search for the Savior to find strength beyond your own.  Try to remember the process you went through in that search.  Was it scripture study, more meaningful prayers, or another avenue that led you to Christ?
Stretch again.  Apply one of those principles today.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Day 3

The Invitation     Keep
Read 2 Nephi 25:21-26

The Journey
Do you have a written copy of your testimony of Christ?  Take time to write an experience that has strengthened your testimony of Him.
Obtain and keep a journal of your twenty-one-day journey, recording the treasures and discoveries that come to you as you follow this path.

2 Nephi 25:26 says "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Day 2

The Invitation     Covenant
Read the account of the Last Supper in John 13:4-15.

The Journey
As you go through this day, find ways that you can bring honor to Christ's name by letting the walk of your life exemplify Him.  On this day, try to remember Him always.
This twenty-one-day journey will introduce different names of the Savior... Take a moment each day to reflect on how each name describes a way that He blesses your life.

Elder Robert D. Hales explains that when we take "His name and always remember Him and keep His commandments, He give us the greatest blessing He can give us: that is to always have His Spirit to be with us" ("In Remembrance of Jesus," Ensign, Nov. 1997, 25).

21 Days Closer to Christ

I saw this book in my sister's room last night and asked her if I could borrow it for 21 days.  Of course she said yes.  I decided that I do want to be closer to Christ.  I wanted to know how this book might help me do that.  In the author's words:
"This is an invitation for you to take a journey to come to know and recognize more clearly the hand of the Lord in your life.  Scattered throughout this book you will find treasures that can make the journey more meaningful to you.  The celebration will come from the moments and experiences that bring you closer to Christ."

So if you would like to join me in this journey, come along.  I will post the invitation and the journey every day.  I hope you like it.

Day 1:
The Invitation    Come
Read the account of the fishermen in Mark 1:16-18 and in John 1:38-39.

The Journey
Determine what fills your nets.  Are everyday challenges such as time constraints, demands from work or home, or feelings of inadequacy or fear holding you back from developing a relationship with Christ?
Try to listen for the quiet invitation from the Lord to come and see.

I also just wanted to add my favorite scripture about coming unto Christ.
Moroni 10:32 "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."

I'm Trying Something New...

So I have just signed up to be a seller on etsy.com.
If you haven't heard of it, people can buy and sell things there.  They have to be handmade or vintage and there are also supplies on it.

I have decided to share my talent of crochet and make and sell baby things.  I am starting off slow.  Really slow.  I only have two things for sale right now.  I hope next month, I can make and post some more items.

I have always loved to crochet.  I learned a while back how to make baby jackets and it's really fun for me.  I am starting with those and I hope to add blankets and hats soon.  Here is a link directly to my store.

Please give me some feedback.  Let me know what you think and if you are familiar with anything like this, I would love some suggestions and tips.

Thanks so much!!  Wish me luck!!

Sometimes...

It's hard for me to get out of pajamas when I know I'm not going anywhere that day.

I'm reminded of how much I love my kids when they cuddle with me after their naps.

I feel self-conscious when I eat too much junk food.

I am mildly dishonest when I tell my daughter I don't know.  SOMETIMES.

I can't imagine a world without  my husband.  He does so much.

I'm surprised that I still can hear after a day of three screaming and yelling girls.

I get a little too easily wrapped up in watching Gilmore Girls with some hot chocolate.

I indulge in guilty pleasures like a bag of chocolate chips when I don't have any other chocolate in my house.

I wish all things in life were as wonderful as seeing my family together and having fun.
