One Year Ago Today...Sept. 2, 2010

One year ago today, I was woken up by a phone call from the hospital around 5:36 am. They wanted me to show up for my induction at 7:30 am. I said yes and couldn't go back to sleep after that. It didn't help that I had been having contractions occasionally all night long and still was.

We got to the hospital and they got me to my room. They went right to hooking the monitors up to my stomach to check the babies hearts and we got an IV in my hand. That was painful. I think she tried two or three times. I think I hate that worse than the epidural.

Anyways...Dr. Terry was the first one to check me and he didn't do it until around 10 or so. He was going to break my water also, but after checking me he said I was dialated to a 7. I don't even think they had me on that much, or any pitocin yet. He said to hold off on everything and he didn't even break the water. He wanted my epidural done first cause he was afraid it would happen pretty fast once the water was broken.

So I got the epidural. So much better that time than with Braelee. By 11:30 I was being wheeled to the O.R. I had to be there just in case it turned into a C-section. Thank goodness the Dr. didn't make me move to a table. He let me stay in the bed. Way more comfortable.

The O.R. was full of machines and the table. They had maybe three nurses for each baby and a Pediatric Dr. Plus the anesthesologist and someone to do an ultrasound once baby A came to make sure baby B didn't flip. Now this was not a huge room and on top of all that was Tyson and my mom.

By 11:40, baby A came out. They put her on my tummy and I rubbed her while they cleaned a little. She was super chubby(like no neck) and white as a ghost. They took her to her area and they used the ultrasound machine to find the next baby.

It seemed like he was still trying to find the baby when suddenly Dr. Terry started pulling on something and the next thing I knew, baby B was on my tummy too. She was a little smaller and really red. Then they took her to her area. It went fast. She came just two minutes after the first and I didn't even push her out. He pulled her by her feet. Yes she flipped. What I feared the most about having twins happened. After he pulled her out, he told me he never does that.

I am so grateful for my miracle babies. They are a blessing and I can't imagine life without them. They are so alike sometimes and at other times, complete opposites. Brooke is still a little chubby but we blame the not walking just yet. She doesn't move as fast. Brynn started walking a couple of weeks ago and is really getting good at it. Brooke has been watching her and can take up to four steps before falling. Brooke is a great eater while Brynn spits food out if I feed it to her. She has to do it on her own. They love Top Ramen and Mac & Cheese. They like string cheese, crackers, bananas, and grilled cheese.
They both still just have two teeth on bottom. That's kinda how Braelee was too. Here are some pictures. They are pretty recent. I love these girls so much and so does their sister and Dad and everyone that knows them.

Isn't that precious?

Uh Oh Face

Their first suckers, I think

Happy Birthday Brooke!!
Happy Birthday Brynn!!
We love you both so much!!

Put a smile on your face

Cute story!!

I just posted this really cute video of my girls laughing and enjoying each other when Brooke started crying.
It was one of those where her mouth is as open as it will ever be and she tips her head back. It's basically the end of the world.
Anyway...
while she was at the silent, not breathing stage of the cry when she is ready to scream, she heard the laughing on the computer and immediately stopped to watch.
As I watched her watch the video, I saw this adorable smile creep under her binky and she even started laughing.

So watch this and you may laugh too.

Today is one of those days where I feel so down I don't know how I'll ever get back up. The girls all have RSV and I feel like a failure. Somehow, I let them get sick. I hardly ever take them anywhere and yet, here we are. Brooke is getting worse and I am worried, of course. That's what mother's do.
So as I am feeding Brooke, I'm trying to think what I can possibly be thankful for. I'm NOT thankful for RSV, I'm NOT thankful for NO free time, I'm NOT thankful to have no money. So as those are going through my head, I decided I needed to look at other things because money isn't everything, RSV will pass, and I have a wonderful husband who knows when I need even just a few minutes to myself and sometimes just a few minutes is all I need.
I AM:
thankful for the one on one time with Tyson today when we went to buy a humidifier.
thankful for my mother-in-law who is always the first to offer help.
thankful for my babies and their healing smiles, even when they are sick.
thankful for the atonement.
thankful for forgiveness.
thankful for my eternal family.
thankful for my husband who helps even though he already has so much on his plate.
thankful for prayer.
Sometimes prayer is the only thing I have to get me through a rough day.
